Wycombe Wanderers were all but relegated to the Third Division as they went down 2-1 very meekly to play-off contenders Tranmere Rovers, thanks to a brace from Eugene Dadi.

The Merseysiders fully deserved the three points as Wycombe produced a spineless performance with no heart at all.

Tranmere took the lead following a dreadful back-pass by Chris Vinnicombe, the ball was easily cut out by Dadi for his 18th strike of the campaign, after 11 minutes.

Wycombe were unfortunate with a Darren Currie attempt that was well saved by John Achterberg on 26 minutes and from the resulting corner Criag Faulconbridge steered his header wide of the post.

Lee Worgan in the home goal, signed as an emergency keeper due to injury to Steve Williams, showed what he was capable of with a brilliant save from frontman Gary Jones' 20-yard strike on 38 minutes.

Worgan got the better of Jones again on 44 minutes, tipping over a 40-yard chip, following superb timing of the shot from the visiting hitman.

The Lilywhites doubled their money right on the stroke of half-time. Jamaican striker Paul Hall nicked the ball from Currie following a throw-in and raced into the area. He fed Dadi, who calmly slotted past the exposed Worgan.

The home side were unlucky not to pull a goal back on 55 minutes, when from a Currie corner, defender Roger Johnson hit the post from three yards.

Visiting keeper Achterberg nearly gifted the hosts a lifeline when he charged out of his area and completely missed the ball. Nathan Tyson squared the ball and with the goal gaping, the Tranmere defence cleared the danger.

The hosts set up a grandstand finish on 88 minutes. Johnso, pushed up front by manager Tony Adams, head in Currie's left-wing cross, but it was too little, too late.
