Second half goals from Paul Hall and substitute Theo Whitmore handed Tranmere a seventh home League One victory, 2-0 against MK Dons.

Struggling MK Dons never made it easy and had the better chances before the breakthrough came for the Merseysiders in the 53rd minute.

Malvin Kamara put an overhead kick just over for the visitors following a Dean Lewington corner in the 16th minute and had another effort deflected into the top netting four minutes before the break.

Tranmere had a let off immediately after half-time when Wade Small got in the clear for the Dons only to pull his shot across the face of the goal.

Tranmere heeded the warning and when the visitors lost possession in the 53rd minute Paul Hall netted his third goal of the season at the second attempt after his first shot was blocked by Keeper Scott Bevan.

Bevan produced an excellent save to deny Ian Goodison in the 76th minute, but Tranmere doubled their lead in the 84th minute when Whitmore netted at the second attempt after defender Gareth Edds was dispossessed.

Steve Palmer was excellent in central defence for the losers and Kamara had his moments in midfield along with Ben Chorley.

Hall was the pick for the winners although there was a solid contribution from Ian Sharp and Goodison.
