Tranmere Earn Deserved Point At The Liberty Stadium

Last updated : 11 March 2008 By Matthew Jones
Easily one of Tranmere's best performances of the season
was rounded off by A 91st minute goal from Chris Greenacre.

The game started off very even with a few shots from each team
but neither team really came close to breaking
the deadlock.

Andy Taylor was booked for unsporting
behaviour and a minute later Dennis Lawrence
found himself in the book for the same reason.

The swans had the better of the possesion throughout
the first half and there patience paid dividends
when Alan Tates sweet volley found the back
of the net, a morale blow to Tranmere 2 minutes
before half time.

In the second half Tranmere were
much the brighter team and came close on a few
occasions when Shane Sheriff and Andy Taylor
both had shots go narrowly wide.

On 70 minutes, Chris Greenacre replaced Jennison Myrie-Williams.
3 minutes later, Jason Scotland(Swansea) was
replaced by Guillem Bauza. A few minutes after
that John Mullin was cautioned for unsporting behaviour
after a tackle on Andy Robinson.

Tranmere looked the more likely to score. On 82 minutes
Andy Robinson(Swansea) was replaced by Febian Brandy
and 5 minutes later came Tranmere's last throw off
the dice with Calvin Zola replacing John Mullin.

3 minutes were shown on the board of added time
and in the 1st of them minutes Chris Greenacre
headed in from a Calvin Zola cross, much to
the joy of the travelling 90 Rovers fans.

An excellent and efficient performance from the Rovers
which puts them back in contention for the play-offs.
Tranmere are now only 2 points from 5th place and
with 3 winnable games coming up 3 wins could see Rovers
rise into a higher league position. Come On Rovers!
