Bury claimed another notable scalp as they moved closer to the LDV Vans Trophy final at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium.
The Shakers, handily placed for the play-offs in division three, have accounted for premiership Bolton, first division Stoke and second division Barnsley in the various cup competitions this season.
And thanks to a goal in either half from Jon Newby and David Nugent, the Shakers proved too strong for their division two visitors.
After missing an early chance Newby made amends after 14 minutes tapping in a Colin Woodthorpe corner.
Then Newby turned provider for 17-year-old Nugent nine minutes into the second half for the clinching second goal.
