Contract negotions have clearly started in preperation for next at Tranmere Rovers, as two players today signed new contracts which will see them stay at the club next season.

Jamaican international Ian Goodison signed a two-year contract extension which will see him stay at the club until July 2011, whilst young striker Josh MacAuley signed his first professional contract, a deal that will expire in July 2010.

Defender Ian Goodison joined Tranmere in 2004 when Brian Little was manager of the club. After a successful trial, Goodison signed a permanent contract with the club and has since gone on to become a firm fan favourite.

With many outstanding performances at centre-back, Goodison, who has captained and won over 100 caps for his country, Jamaica, has won a number of awards in his time at Prenton Park, thanks to a number of consistent seasons with the club.

He has made well over 200 appearances for the Wirral club and is currently one of Tranmere's longest serving players.

The other player to sign a contract with Rovers today was 17-year old striker Josh MacAuley, who signed his first professional contract.

The pacey striker has been in terrific form for Tranmere's youth and reserve teams this season, leading the scoring charts for both sides and playing an integral part in the youth teams success this season.

MacAuley made his debut for Tranmere in their 4-1 win over Carlisle in January, coming off the bench to play the final five or so minutes of the game, and he will be looking to add to this tally of appearances next season.
