Tranmere youngsters Mike Jones, Mike Johnston and Craig Curran have signed their first professional contracts with the club after a good season in the reserve and youth teams.

Birkenhead boy Jones has been with the club since he was 11 and so far has managed 12 goals in the reserves and youth team this season. The midfielder has been around the first team squad for most of April and travelled to Rotherham. Jones had been in his third year as a scholar.

Johnston is a Liverpool born defender and along with being at the club since the age of 11, Johnston has progressed enough to be capped at U-18 level for Wales and is currently a second year scholar.

Ginger-Haired 16-year old Craig Curran has been with Tranmere for two years and is in his first year as a scholar. Curran (a good up and coming player on FM 2006 along with Joe Fowler) can play in attack or midfield.

It is expected that Mike Jones especially will feature in at least one of the remaining games this season due to injuries and suspensions ruling Sam Aiston, Calvin Zola, Mike Jackson and Stephen O'Leary out of tomorrow's game against Bristol City.
