Third Player Leaves

Last updated : 02 June 2005 By Matthew Jones
Neil Ashton has become the third player to leave Tranmere Rovers this summer, following Russ Howarth and David Beresford's departures mid-May.
The difference is, Ashton still had time left on his contract, where-as the other two players did not, their contracts ran out this summer.

Ashton has failed to ever really make an impression under Brian Little, managing only a handfull of selections in the first 16.

Ashton is expected to join Shrewsbury Town where he spent five months on-loan this season, impressing the Shrewsbury staff and fans alot. This begs the question, why didn't Rovers try and get some money for the youngster?
