Last updated : 22 September 2006 By Matthew Jones
A new lay out lyes ahead for the 2006/07 Johnstone Paints Trophy (formely the LDV Vans Trophy), for which the first round draw takes place live on Soccer AM tomorrow morning.

Eight teams from the Northern Section and eight teams from the Southern section have been given byes, meaning they will immediately pass through to the Second Round. Tranmere Rovers are bemusingly not one of these teams.

Then, the football league have split the groups up into four groups (instead of two from last year). There is now a Northern Section East and West and a Southern Section East and West. Tranmere Rovers are in the Northern Section West.

More prize money is now being given out to teams who win in successive rounds as well, with the winner netting around £90,000 out of a prize fund of roughly £350,000.

Extra time has been scrapped, meaning draws after 90 minutes go straight to penalty shoot out, in the attempt to miss late-finishes, hoping to attract more families to the games.
