The Excitement Builds Up

Set to return?
Last Friday, Lorraine Rogers and the Board of Directors (including club President Peter Johnson) promised a new manager would be appointed by the end of this week.

Rumours continue to fly around as to who could be appointed, linking high profile names such as John Aldridge, Ian Holloway and Stan Ternant with the job, whilst it is still believed the likes of Jimmy Harvey and Jason McAteer are still very much in the frame to be Rovers' new boss.

But does anybody really know who the new boss will be? For sure the likes of Ronnie Moore, Mark Wright and Keith Alexander can be ruled out after Wright signed a two year deal with Chester, Alexander joined Peterborough United of League Two and Ronnie Moore said he had "un-finished business" with Oldham.

This still however leaves a number of candidates, with some of the rumours appearing to have some substance.

For instance, two national newspapers reported John Aldridge was set to make a surprise return to Prenton Park his week, a story which has caused much debate on un-official TRFC websites.

With a number of un-official sites reporting that Preston North End 'keeper Gavin Ward has signed for Rovers, many fans have also been speculating over whether David "Ned" Kelly is set to be return to Prenton Park, this time as manager, joining Ward who is still at Preston with Kelly, who is assistant manager.

Many fans have been calling for Ian Holloway, but it appears that he will be appointed Yeovil Town boss tomorrow, due to him not wanting to move away from the south whilst you would think that if Jason McAteer was going to bte new manager, Rovers would have appointed him a few weeks back.

Currently un-employed managers who are also believed to be in the ring are ex-Sunderland boss Peter Reid and former Burnley manager Stan Ternant, two other names who a number of Rovers fans would love to see installed as the new manager.

It is believed that the new manager will be appointed tomorrow, so keep your eyes peeled. It is an appointment which Lorraine Rogers has described as "exciting".
