Dutch legend signs new Tranmere deal
In a complete U-Turn from Friday's announcement that John Achterberg had been released by Tranmere Rovers, the big Dutch 'keeper has today signed a two-year contract in a coach and playing role with the club.

Tranmere announced negotiations between the two parties had broken down on Friday, Tranmere fans began petitioning for the goalkeeper to atleast get a testimonial for his service to the club, last nine years. The new two-year contract means Achterberg will pass the 10 years required to earn a testimonial.

Achterberg's main role with his new contract will be coach goalkeeper's of all ages at the club, and if he should regain his fitness after a series of injuries, he could earn his place in the team again.
