Thank You Simon Francis

I'm sure all Tranmere Rovers FC fans will agree with me when I saw Simon Francis was one of Brian Little's better signings and possibly one of if not the best loan signing Rovers have ever made.

Simon arrived from Sheffield United on a one month loan deal around 16th/17th of November and made his debut as a substitute away to Scunthorpe on 19th November.

On his full debut and home debut one week later, Francis netted the opener against top of the league Swansea from 20-yards and he was immediatly taken to heart by the Rovers fans.

His third appearence was his first taste of defeat with Rovers away to Barnsley (2-1) but then at Blackpool he set up Delroy Facey's goal in a game which eventually ended 1-1.

Francis continued to excell and his loan deal was extended for a further month on December 20th although he was cup tied for the Carlisle game the following day so his next appearence was awy to Walsall on Boxing Day where he perhaps played his best game from right-wing-back.

Francis was a key figure in the team that went 11 league games without defeat between Boxing Day and Valentines Day.  His performances were always solid and he was always involved in the action.

I remember he set up Steven O'Leary's goal vs. Gillingham and had solid games in defence at Hartlepool and Bradford away and Southend at home.

Simon was a great player in the three months he was at Tranmere Rovers.  He can not be spoken of too highly by anybody and it was a great compliment of Brian Little to say he will be playing in the Premiership one day earlier this week.

I'm sure every Rovers fan will join me in saying thank you very much Simon, you have been great in your three months at the club and good luck for the future, which will hopefully be at Prenton Park.
