Robbie joins League Two club
After being released around four weeks ago by Tranmere Rovers, Scotland international Robbie Stockdale has signed a two-year contract with Grimsby Town.

The defender joined Tranmere in 2006 from Hull City on a free-transfer and made 88 appearances for the club over a two-year stay, therefore making him a near ever present in each season.

However, at the end of the 2007/08 season, Stockdale was deemed surpless to requirements by Rovers manager Ronnie Moore and was released along with John Mullin, Michael Johnston and Michael Jones.

Having played five times for Scotland, the former Middlesbrough defender, who played in the Premier League for the Teeside club, is making a move nearer to home with League Two Grimsby and will be no doubt a solid player for the Marriners.

He is expected to line up against Tranmere in the Carling Cup first round match between the two sides on August 10th at Blundell Park.
