Shuker Ruled Out for Season!

After the delight of another vital home win in League One on Saturday for Tranmere came the news that most Rovers fans had been dreading since Boxing Day.

The injury received by Chris Shuker in the 2-0 win over Carlisle United on Wednesday has been confirmed as the same sort of injury that has affected Steve Davies and will therefore most likely rule Shuker out for the rest of the season.

To lose one influential winger for the season is bad enough but to lose both to the same injury is a major blow to any promotion hopes Ronnie Moore's men have.

The tackle on Shuker appeared to be a bad one and although he limped on for a few minutes after treatment, the signal from the other side of the pitch from Physio Les Parry suggested Shuker's game was over and as is has turned out so has his season.

For some fans now, the priority signing for Rovers in the January transfer window will shift from a left winger to replace Davies to a right winger to replace Shuker.

Whilst season long replacements for both are no doubt required it could be argued that with Shane Sherriff and Carl Tremarco able to fill in on the left, a back-up for Mike Jones may be more important on the right side assuming that the loan of Jennison Myrie-Williams is not extended.
