After putting in a brilliant display at the Galpharm Stadium on Saturday, Tranmere's on-loan defender Ryan Shotton has been named in the League One team of the week.

Shotton, on-loan from Premier League club Stoke City, scored the winning goal in Tranmere's 2-1 success at Huddersfield this weekend, netting with a header from an Andy Taylor free-kick.

But it wasn't just his goal that impressed the Tranmere fans, as his calm, solid and dependable defending helped Ronnie Moore's side keep Town's attackers quiet.

Shotton joined Tranmere on an initial one-month loan deal from Stoke two weeks ago, but Rovers manager Ronnie Moore has already hinted that he will be contacting Stoke manager Tony Pulis with the intent of extending the players stay at the club.

So far, Shotton has played in three matches for Tranmere and he has impressed the Rovers fans on each occasion.
