Rovers to open season at Swindon
Tranmere Rovers will open the 2008/09 season with a tricky away trip to Swindon Town on Saturday August 9th, followed by their midweek away League Cup first round game against Grimsby Town.

The first home game for Tranmere will be against Hartlepool who travel to Prenton Park on August 16th, with Rovers travelling to Leicester City a week later, playing the Foxes for in a competative fixture for the first time since the 2000 League Cup final.

Tranmere's first trip to MK Don's new stadium will be on November 1st whilst Rovers face a long New Year trip to Colchester's new ground on January 3rd.

The Boxing Day game for Rovers will be away from home for the fourth year running as they travel to Hereford United whilst Leeds away is on April 18th.

The final game of the season for Ronnie Moore's men is on May 3rd when Tranmere travel to recently relegated Scunthorpe United, with the final home game coming a week earlier against Yeovil Town.

Midweek away fixtures this year include trips to Hartlepool United (again) on Tuesday March 3rd and Cheltenham Town on Tuesday February 3rd.
