Tranmere Rovers' 17-year old striker Craig Curran has today signed a new three year contract with the club, which will keep him at Prenton Park until June 2010.

Curran signed his first professional contract in April 2006 under Brian Little, the then 16-year old earning himself a two-year deal despite his young age after a string of impressive performances in the youths and reserves.

After continued good form in the reserves in the youths last season, Curran was picked on the subsitutes bench for Rovers' cup match against Woking in November. Two months later in January, the Rovers' number 25 who can also play in midfield was eventually handed his first team debut in the League at Bristol City, coming on for Chris Shuker for the final ten minutes of the game with Rovers 3-2 down.

After many more goals in the reserves, Curran was eventually handed his next chance in the first team at home to Brighton and Hove Albion on Easter Monday and he came on with immediate success, scoring with his first touch in the first team at Prenton Park after coming off the bench with less than 20-minutes left, a goal that was to be the catalyst for a Tranmere win with Rovers 1-0 down when the striker came on.

After another substitute appearance against Scunthorpe at Prenton Park, Curran had his heaviest impact yet as he made his first start against Brentford on the final day of the season. Curran scored a hatrick in the game as he guided Tranmere to a 3-1 win.
