Tranmere Rovers have been drawn against local League Two side Stockport County in the first round of the 2007/08 Carling Cup.

The game will be played away at Edgely Park during the week commencing Monday 13th August, so it is likely to be played on either Tuesday 14th or Wednesday 15th of August.

Last year at this stage of the competition, Tranmere were defeated 2-1 after extra time against Championship side Hull City and Rovers reached the final of the same competition in the 1999/2000 season.

Other notable ties will see newly promoted Morcambe make the short journey to Preston North End, West Brom host Bournemouth and a Yorkshire derby as Rotherham United host Sheffield Wednesday.

Ronnie Moore has already called for a good run in the competition.
