Return of the Rumour Mill

The rumour mill clunks into action again, as Alan Stubbs is linked with a move to Prenton Park on loan

Following Ronnie Moore's announcement that Tranmere are set to complete at least one loan signing before Rovers game at Swansea on Friday night, a number of rumours are flying around as to who the player(s) could be.

Moore requested an "experienced Premiership or Championship player who is out of favour with their club". Well, two players currently linked who both fit the bill are Everton defenders Alan Stubbs and David Wier, who have both found first team football hard to come by under David Moyes at Goodison Park this season.

David Wier was strongly linked with Rovers last summer before Brian Little left, whilst for scouser Stubbs, relation to former Rovers player and BBC Sport Presenter Ray Stubbs, it would be a big step down, after representing the likes of Everton, Celtic and Bolton in his career.

Other rumours doing the rounds are that Robbie Fowler could be on his way to Tranmere for a short loan spell whilst Calvin Zola and Gareth Taylor are both injured, but I think some of us are just dreaming.
