With the 2007/08 season now long gone for Tranmere Rovers, preperations are beginning ahead of what promises to be an exciting but tough 2008/09 campaign.

Although Rovers fans still don't know who their manager will be for next season, they are beginning to find out who their opposition will be during the summer ahead of the big kick off on August 9th.

The annual pre-season friendly against local up and coming non-League side Cammell Laird has already been confirmed for mid-July, whilst today a local(ish) Championship side have confirmed that they will finish their pre-season against Tranmere.

On August 2nd, Rovers will take on Blackpool at Prenton Park, just a week before the season finishes, in what promises to be a tight game against a team who were in the same division as Tranmere until their promotion, via the play-offs, in the 2006/07 season.

Although there are no other officially announced friendlies yet, Rovers are expected to also play local sides Heswall, Southport, Vauxhalls and Marine as usual, whilst the youth team will definately be playing several games in North Wales against Buckley, Connah's Quay and Bangor.
