The 40 year old played over 850 league and cup games during his time with Bolton Wanderers, Preston, Plymouth, Burnley and Hull, where he was also a manager for a short period during the 98/99 season.
Joyce has worked with the youngsters at Leed's United and Manchester United's Center of Excellence and firstly at Bury.
On joining Tranmere, Joyce commented that he was delighted to be signing for Tranmere, as they have one of the best Youth Set-Up's in the football league.
