Moore of Ronnie

Contract extension for Rovers boss
Tranmere Rovers manager Ronnie Moore has signed a new two-year contract with the club, which extends his stay with the Super Whites until 2010.

Moore re-joined Tranmere as manager in the summer of 2006 as he replaced Brian Little, who had left the club following their dissapointing 18th placed finish in League One.

The former Rovers played, who amassed over 300 appearances for the club, soon made some excellent signings, with the likes of Paul McLaren and Chris Shuker coming in as Tranmere finished 9th in Moore's first season in charge.

Over the 2007/08 season, fortunes fluctuated for the Rovers boss, with Tranmere eventually finishing eleventh in League One and leading to much speculation over Moore's future.

Tranmere had originally topped the table in October, but injuries to key players Greenacre, Davies and Shuker and a terrible away record saw Rovers slip down the table.

A mini-revival over January, February and early March wasn't enough for Rovers though, as they again stumbled over the final few matches of the season.

With a few quality additions to the squad, and some oh so desperately needed stability by the way of keeping the current manager, Rovers could now build a team to get into the Championship.
