Moore, a former Rovers player, is thought to be on a shortlist of three candidates for the job, along with Brentford manager Martin Allen and ex-Hearts manager and player, Craig Levien.
Moore, who left Oldham yesterday, said "It's a great place and it would have been a great opportunity for me, but they are quite a long way down the line with another candidate.
They've done it the right way, they've spoken to the chairman and the manager and I think it's quite a way down the line."
Where does this leave Rovers now? Is Ronnie Moore just playing down the speculation but still in there with a chance or is he out of the running completely?
