After weeks of speculation, 25-year old central defender Chris McCready has re-joined Crewe Alexandra on a free transfer after his contract at Tranmere expired.

McCready joined Rovers from the Alex last summer on a one-year deal and played 47-times for the club, scoring once against Millwall in November.

Ronnie Moore will now be looking for a new defender, with rumours linking John Thompson with a permanent move to the club after he was released by his parent club Nottingham Forest.
