Tranmere Rovers player/coach Jason McAteer has announced that he hopes to play on with Tranmere for one more season, should he be given the chance.

The former Republic of Ireland player said "The body is telling me to stop but the head is telling me to play on."

McAteer, who supported the club as a boy and dreamed of playing for Rovers, is hoping Ronnie Moore, the new boss, will offer him one final year as a player and a coach before he retires from playing.
