Little finds emergency loan 'keeper

Tranmere Rovers are set to sign Preston North End goalkeeper Gavin Ward on loan until the end of the current season, as a replacement for Dino Seremet.

Ward however will not join Rovers from the Championship Club until April 1st, the day Seremet is set to return to Luton Town after three months with Tranmere.

The 35-year old shot stopper will come in as the emergency loan 'keeper due to John Achterberg's long groin injury which means Tranmere will be left with only one keeper who has had first team experience - Steve Wilson.

In his long career Ward has played for eight clubs, nine including Preston - his current club. These include Bolton Wanderers, Stoke City, Coventry City and Leicester City.

Bolton paid £300,000 for the goalkeeper in 1992 and he has made over 300 career appearences, so he has bags of experience.

On Preston North End Mad, the following comments were made about Ward:

I think Ward is a decent keeper.  Apart from not being the best at commanding his area on crosses!!!!!! (dinglebasher)

Not the best keeper in the world, best years behind him and to be honest won't be missed. We've got a good young keeper coming through who will be No 2 next season. Guess Ward just wants games at his age and must be fed up sat on the bench! Sure he'll be ok for you but just dont expect a world beater!! (PneMatt)
