Is Gareth on the way?

It is now quite well known that Tranmere have rejected a £50,000 bid from Hull City [Coca-Cola Championship] for star-player Gareth Roberts.

The influential left-back who can play wing-back or left-midfield aswell is out of contract in the summer and it is thought that should a big enough offer, believed to be in the region of £100,000 is offered, the bid would be accepted.

Speaking to the Official Tranmere Rovers website today, Brian Little said "The situation to Gareth is a distraction to him. While he has always given his all for the club, I think it is fair to say that a Championship club being after him is a distraction. He is out of contract in the summer so we have to be very careful how we deal with it.

"They are very keen on him and we can't deny Gareth is intrested. We have to monitor it on a dailly basis. Gareth has always given 100% for the club and I think he always would. But they are chasing pretty heavily and he has not given us any indication that he is not intrested. Gareth has always been happy here but he wants to know what is going on. We have to tread very carefully and hope we deal with it the right way."

Is this then a warning sign to Rovers fans? Don't be suprised if the Welsh International leaves?

I for one hope not. In my opinion, Gareth is the best player we have, the most influential and the team would crumble without him. I would hate to see my favourite player leave but I feel the writing is on the wall.

I write this to find Hull have indeed made a new bid of £100,000 for Sir Gareth. Please Don't Go.  We Love You.
