Greenacre: I hope Macca plays on

Tranmere Rovers hit-man Chris Greenacre has spoken out on Jason McAteer's contract situation, stating that he hopes the former Republic of Ireland international signs a new playing contract at Prenton Park.

"I know he's got coaching commitments" Greenacre told the media. "But he's still class. His vision, awareness and passing ability are great and although he hasn't got the legs any more, it's no coincidence that we've won games when he's played."

Many fans are split on whether they think McAteer should sign a new deal but after supplying the killer pass for Delroy Facey to secure Rovers' place in League One on Saturday, I'm sure many will have changed their opinion (on both players!).

It was mentioned at the fans forum 13 days ago that Jason McAteer had been offered a new playing contract by Tranmere Rovers.
