Fixtures Released

With now just 58 days remaining until the start of the 2007/08 football season, the football fixtures have been announced and Rovers are set to play Leeds United on the opening day of the season at Prenton Park.

The two sides have never met before in the league and the last time they met, Rovers ran out 3-2 winners on Haloween despite trailing 2-0 in the League Cup Third Round. The fixture at Elland Road will take place on February 2nd.

Tranmere's first away campaign in the league will be against Gillingham (thankfully on a Saturday), seven days after the Leeds clash whilst other notable fixtures will see Tranmere play Carlisle at home and then Crewe away on Boxing Day and New Years Day.

Tranmere's last game of the campaign will end away to Northampton Town whilst over Easter, Rovers will host Port Vale before travelling down to Bournemouth two days later.

Although some fixtures may look good, the football league have once again shown no since or consideration to the fans, with Rovers set to make trips to both Brighton and Swansea on Tuesday nights. You'd have thought that they might save localish games for the Tuesday night away fixtures.
