Davies completes transfer to Championship club
Derby County have finally officially signed 20-year old young talent Steve Davies from Tranmere Rovers after weeks of speculation.

The transfer is subject to a fee being agreed by the two clubs, but the writing has been on the wall for Rovers for months now, with Davies believed to have refused to sign a new contract as early as October after Tranmere rejected an offer of over £500,000 from Leeds United for the player in August.

Striker-come-left-winger Davies burst on to the scene at the start of the 2005/06 season as he scored the only goal as a subsitute in his Prenton Park debut against Manchester City in a 1-0 friendly win.

Continued progression eventually saw the youngster become the first choice left-winger on the Wirral for the 2007/08 season after the departure of Kevin Ellison. However, after a brilliant pre-season and then excellent start to the campaign just gone, Davies injured his cruciate knee-ligaments on September 30th and made just two more appearances in the season.

Davies has signed a three-year contract with the Rams and now it is only the fee that Derby will have to pay Rovers for the player that remains to be decided, because he is under 24.

We will have to wait and see whether this move proves to be the correct one for Davies' career, whilst Tranmere Rovers Mad wishes him all the best for the future.
