After an absense of over six months, Tranmere Rovers youngster Steve Davies is set for his return to action when Tranmere's second string take on Carlisle United in the Pontins Holiday's Reserve League on Wednesday night.

Davies hasn't played in any competative match since September 30th, when the winger tore his cruciate ligaments after landing badly in Tranmere's home match against Northampton Town. Tranmere's number 19 will be hoping that he can gain some crucial match fitness from this game, and then Rovers' away reserve game with Blackpool next week, as he hopes to play in at least one first team fixture before the end of the season.

The striker-come-left-winger who burst onto the scene during Pre-Season 2005, started the season on fire, scoring twice in ten games, this on the back of another highly successful pre-season, before injury halted his campaign. Indeed, the 20-year olds blistering form attracted the attention of a number of high profile clubs, including Leeds United, but with his contract up in the summer, Tranmere could still lose one of their star youngsters, despite rejecting offers for the player in August.

The match, which will be played at Prenton Park, is Tranmere's final home reserve game of the season, and first team squad members Calvin Zola, Craig Curran, Michael Jones, John Mullin and Adnan Ahmed are all expected to feature.
