Brian Little has told Tranmere Rovers' young striker, Chris Dagnall, that he will have to fight for his first team place after the Rovers number 21 displayed almost exactly what he can do with a brilliant substitute appearence at Valley Parade on Sunday.

Dagnall, who had the best goals:minutes on pitch Ratio for Rovers last season, including two goals away to Hartlepool in the league, has been scoring for fun in the reserves this season along with young talent Steve Davies, who scored his first goal for the Rovers first XI away to Doncaster in the last game of October.

Little remains adament that Dagnall is still in his first team plans, but does admit that Dagnall is way down the pecking order, behind leading scorer Chris Greenacre, Delroy Facey, Calvin Zola and of course, Steven Davies.

In an interview earlier today, Little said "I have always believed Chris will score again, but there is competition for first team places. is in just the same position as everyone else. He's been doing well and will have to do a bit better, although he can't do much better than he has been in the reserves, where he has been scoring goals."
