Chester ordered to pay £15,000 for Linwood
After Paul Linwood moved away from Tranmere on a free-transfer this summer, Rovers are to recieve a fee of £15,000 for the player.

Under current regulations, Tranmere recieve the compensation money for Linwood because he is under 23 and made the move despite Tranmere offering him a new contract.

Tranmere originally rejected an offer of £5,000 as compensation for the player from Chester, meaning the case was brought to an independant panel, who decided Chester City Football Club must pay £15,000 for player.

Linwood made his Tranmere debut in Brian Little's first game in charge, a 3-2 LDV Vans Trophy defeat at Blackpool in 2003, and went on to make over 50 appearences for Tranmere, at Centre-back and right-back.

However, after finding it hard to break into the first team last season, Linwood decided to move on to Chester, where he has been joined by former Tranmere players Phil Palethorpe and Graham Allen.
