Chairman Rogers set to stand down

Just two games into the new football season, Lorraine Rogers has today issued a statement informing fans of Tranmere Rovers that this will be her final season at Prenton Park, after ten years at the helm of the Wirral club.

Rogers joined Tranmere ten years ago after the departure of Frank Corfe, the ten chairman, who had left the club in severe financial trouble and for the second time in just over ten years, Rovers were in a real threat of closure.

Since, Rogers has managed to stabalise the club and financially keep them going, but the withdrawal of Peter Johnson's funding has seen Rovers slip on the field, with one relegation and a number of failed promotion pushes since Rogers joined, whilst financially it will always be a struggle for clubs like Tranmere.

The chairman said that her departure is down to being "disallusioned with football", as now it appears to be money and not the football that is important, leaving many lower league clubs in dire situations and not only harming the clubs, but also the fans too.

As it was, it appears that the Steve Davies tribunal case is the straw that broke the camals back for Rogers, with the chairman explaining that the club will recieve a very unfair amount for a very promising player that Tranmere have put a lot of time and money towards. Everything, it seems, swings in Derby's favour, and never towards the club who have developed the young players.

Rogers is in discussion with club president Peter Johnson on who to sell her 30% stake in the club to, as she wants the club to go to somebody who is a genuine fan, cares about the club and wants the best for Tranmere Rovers, not another person who sees only money.

This therefore will be Rogers final season at the club before she steps down and she will finally look to iron out a few issues before she leaves Prenton Park for the final time, including the Ingleborough training ground situation, we Rogers claims is at "advanced stages".
