Tranmere V Mansfield at Prenton Park - Match Preview

Moore to mix it up

Ronnie Moore is set to shuffle his pack when Tranmere take on Mansfield after the manager was left furious at their defeat on Saturday.

Rovers crashed to a 3-1 loss against Walsall with Moore dubbing it "the worst performance from a Tranmere team in a long, long time".

Ex-Wales international Jason Koumas came off the bench, his first competitive outing in over two years, and hit the woodwork in a lively cameo so he could be considered for a starting berth.

Moore has no fresh injury worries but is still without another midfielder and his captain James Wallace, who underwent an operation on his knee last week.

Meanwhile Mansfield midfielder Keiran Murtagh continues to nurse a knee injury ahead of the trip.

Murtagh, who missed the Stags' return to the Football League at Scunthorpe on Saturday, has a minor ligament problem and is expected to be the only player unavailable to manager Paul Cox, who is hoping to add another striker to his squad in time for the first round tie.

"We hope to hear something but until we do we won't be shouting it from the rooftops. We want to make sure the paperwork goes through all right," said Cox.

Cox's newest signing, Ollie Palmer, who arrived from Havant&Waterlooville on Friday, could be set to start at Prenton Park after impressing as a second-half substitute against the Iron at the weekend.
