Tranmere V Brentford at Prenton Park - Match Preview

Goodison set for Rovers return

Ian Goodison is expected to declare his availability for Tranmere's Sky Bet League One clash against Brentford.

The fans' favourite, who will turn 41 before the year's end, caused concern for Rovers when he came off in the 0-0 draw with Stevenage last week due to a hamstring injury.

However, boss Ronnie Moore is confident he can line up at the heart of a defence which has tightened since Goodison was given a run in the team.

Rovers have four long-term injury absentees, Andy Robinson (groin), Jake Kirby (ankle), James Wallace (knee) and Jason Koumas (groin), and none of that quartet will see action when the Bees visit Prenton Park.

Richard Lee is in line for a shock return to the Brentford team.

The experienced goalkeeper only resumed full training this week after six months out with a shoulder injury, but with David Button suspended after a red card last weekend boss Uwe Rosler must turn to Lee or rookie Jack Bonham for the next three matches.

Defender Martin Taylor will make his debut after joining on loan from Sheffield Wednesday and midfielder Joao Carlos Teixeira could also be involved having arrived from Liverpool until January.

Striker Will Grigg is a doubt with a hamstring problem and midfielder Jonathan Douglas is still recovering from knee surgery.
