Rovers peg back Pools

Rovers moved seven points clear of the League One drop zone after substitute Dale Jennnings nabbed an 82nd-minute leveller at Victoria Park.

The home side took the lead after 14 minutes when top scorer Antony Sweeney turned in his 14th of the season. A long throw-in from teenage debutant Darren Holden was headed on by Sam Collins and the midfielder swept the ball past Tony Warner from 12 yards.

Michael Mackay could have doubled the lead, but lifted his lobbed effort onto the roof of the net.

Pools substitute Denis Behan had three chances to make the game safe in the second period. First his close-range effort was blocked by Ian Goodison, then he struck the crossbar with a fierce 35-yard drive and from an indirect free-kick eight yards out, Enoch Showumni charged down his goalbound effort.

But three minutes later Rovers levelled when goalkeeper Andy Rafferty, on his first appearance, made a low stop to keep out Showumni's effort but Jennings followed up to tap in.
