The Form Book:

Northampton First Four Home Games: DLLL
Tranmere First Four Away Games: LDWL

After being appointed Northampton manager, following Colin Calderwood's departure to Nottingham Forest, John Gorman is still searching for his first win at Sixfields.

On returning to League One, The Cobblers lost four consecutive home games, being beaten by Brentford 1-0 in their first home game and then Northampton were defeated by the same scoreline to league leaders Nottingham Forest.

Two weeks later, on SKY Television, John Gorman's side were defeated 3-1 at home to Bristol City, despite Bristol having a player sent off, before picking up their first home point of the season thanks to a 1-1 draw with Yeovil on Tuesday.

As for Tranmere, their away form has been very inconsistent so far this season - or perhaps consistently inconsistent.

After four away league games (plus one away cup match), Rovers have scored just four goals, three in the league and one in the cup, and picked up just four points in the league.

In their first away games under Ronnie Moore, Tranmere lost 1-0 at Whaddon Road to Cheltenham, before travelling to Doncaster four days later and picking up a point, drawing 0-0.

10 Days later, Tranmere played Hull City in the first round of the Carling Cup. However, after leading 1-0 through a Shane Cansdell-Sherriff goal, Rovers lost the game 2-1, thanks to a header from Ben Burgess and then a 30 yard stunner from Darryl Duffy.

Four days later, Tranmere were on the road again, this time travelling to Chesterfield. It was at Saltergate, in Derbyshire, where Tranmere picked up their first away win under Ronnie Moore and first away win of the season, beating The Spireites 2-0, thanks to a Downes own goal on the stroke of half time and a Gareth Taylor lob.

It all went pair shaped for Tranmere on Tuesday however, as they were defeated 2-1 at Rotherham, with all the goals coming in the first half. After a solid start to the season, Rovers conceeded two sloppy goals, through Hoskins and Williamson, either side of a Kevin Ellison strike.

Team News: For Northampton, former Tranmere player Sam Aiston is injured, due to an ankle injury, and Joe Burnell. New loan signing Mitchell Cole is expected to move straight into the first team after joining from Southend.

Tranmere will be without influential midfielder Jason McAteer who had an opporation on cartilidge damage sustained in training, whilst Danny Harrison will once again miss out with an ankle injury. Chris Greenacre sustained an ankle injury at Rotherham on Tuesday and could miss out, meaning he would be replaced by the fit-again Calvin Zola, who scored an over head kick for the reserves in mid-week.

Jones' Prediction: Northampton 0-2 Tranmere
