Moore looking for three points at Griffin Park to extend unbeaten league run
Rovers are once again on the road this weekend, for the second successive time and for the final time before Christmas, as the travel down to London to play struggling Brentford in Coca-Cola League One.

Tranmere will be looking to extend their run of five league games without defeat, whilst Brentford will be looking to win for the first time since the departure of manager Leroy Rosenior last month and their first win since the first weekend in September.

Brentford team profile:

Formed: 1889

Ground: Griffin Park

Manager: Scott Fitzgerald (Caretaker Manager)

Nickname: The Bees

Season Finish 2005/06: 3rd (Coca-Cola League One)

Previous Meetings:

Last season, Rovers failed to beat Brentford in what turned out to be two terrible games for Brian Little and his team.

On 20th August, the realisation began to set in that Rovers were for a tough season when Martin Allen's Brentford side defeated Rovers 2-0 at
Griffin Park.

Jay Tabb and Eddie Hutchinson scored the goals for Brentford, either side of half time, as the Bee's comfortably beat Tranmere who slipped nearer to the foot of the League One table.

Later on in the season, on December 17th, Rovers were humiliated at Prenton Park by the same Brentford opposition, losing 4-1 and sinking to 20th place in League One.

Without the injured Chris Greenacre, Calvin Zola partnered Delroy Facey upfront for Tranmere and got Rovers back in the game after goals from Tabb and Newman had had Brentford 2-0 up within 14 minutes of the game.

However, a 32nd minute penalty from O'Conner and then a shot from Lloyd Owusu clinched Brentford the 4-1 win and left a great number of Rovers fans calling for Brian Little to leave his post as Tranmere manager.

Vital Stats:

Brentford have won nine out of 18 meetings between the two sides at Griffin Park

Tranmere have conceeded 17 goals in nine games on December 9th

In the 1990/91 season, Tranmere beat Brentford in the Divison Two play-off Semi-Finals on their way to Promotion under John King

All three of Tranmere vs. Brentford ties which have taken place in December have been at Prenton Park

Brentford have only won one out of seven games on December 9th

The Form Book:

Brentford last 6 home games: LLLDDL
Tranmere last 6 away games: DWLWDL

Things have been far from easy for Brentford this season, which is reflected by their run of 18 games without a win stretching right back to September 2nd when Brentford beat Bradford 2-1 at
Griffin Park.

The Bee's have in fact been in such poor form since the departure of Martin Allen in the summer, who left to join MK Dons of League Two because of the financial restraints at Griffin Park, that they have only managed three wins in normal time out of 26 games, plus two penalty shoot out wins in the League Cup and Football League Trophy.

In their last six home games, Brentford have picked up two points, both draws against Gillingham (2-2) and
Bristol City (1-1).

Three of the four defeats have come in the league, with Brentford managing to score just one goal in the process. Most recently, Brentford lost 4-0 to Doncaster Rovers after losing their previous home game by the same score line to Crewe Alexandra.

In the F.A. Cup, Brentford again lost to Doncaster Rovers, this time the score line 1-0 whilst
Yeovil Town beat The Bee's 2-1 at Griffin Park in late September.

Brentford have managed just two home wins so far this season, against the aforementioned
Bradford City (2-0) and then on the opening day of the season they beat Blackpool 1-0. Their other win this season came away from home, when Northampton Town were defeated 1-0 at Sixfields just three days after the Blackpool victory.

Other defeats at
Griffin Park for Brentford this season came against Swansea City (2-0) and then in the League Cup against Luton Town (3-0). They have also picked up solitary points against Bournemouth (0-0) and Huddersfield Town (2-2).

For Tranmere, form has begun to pick up again after a blip during September/October, which has resulted in them moving right back up the table into 5th place, only on goal difference to Oldham Athletic after they got a fantastic 1-1 draw with Scunthorpe at
Glanford Park on Tuesday night.

Rovers have picked up just three away league wins this season, but all have been against tough opposition. Their most recent win came away to Brighton, were Rovers picked up a fantastic 1-0 win, whilst victories in the league have also come over
Northampton Town (3-1) and Chesterfield (2-0).

In the Johnstone's Paint Trophy Tranmere beat Bury 2-0 thanks to goals from Steve Jennings and Chris Shuker.

Rovers have also got three draws, against Doncaster Rovers (0-0),
Swansea City (0-0) and Scunthorpe United (1-1), where Shane Sherriff equalised after an Andy Keogh opener for Scunthorpe.

It is the away defeats that have so far been a scar on Tranmere's form and league position this season, with Rovers being defeated three times in nine away league games.

Bradford
City (2-0), Cheltenham Town (1-0) and Carlisle United (1-0) are the teams to send Tranmere home without any points, whilst Rovers also lost 2-1 at Hull City after leading 1-0 in the Carling Cup.

Double Hit:

Somebody who has represented both Brentford and Tranmere Rovers is current Doncaster Rovers midfielder Jason Price.

Price started his career at his local club Swansea City, where he made nearly 150 appearances and scored a total of just 18 goals for The Jacks.

It was time to move on for the Welshman in August 2001, as Price left Swansea after 6 years service for the club.

Price"less" made the move to Brentford on a free-transfer but once again found goals hard to come by in a three month spell with the club, as he managed to hit the back of the net once in 18 appearances.

He moved on again in November, as he was snapped up by Dave Watson at Tranmere Rovers, where his form and career took a sudden turn for the better.

Employed upfront on a number of occassions instead of his usual right-wing position by the former Everton-captain, Price began to find his scoring boots and in just over 50 appearances for the club, Price scored 15 goals.

However, in July 2003 greed got the better of him as he rejected a contract from new manager Ray Mathias and moved on to Hull City, where he remained for three seasons, playing in League Two, League One and The Championship as Hull rose through the leagues.

In 84 appearances for Hull, Price scored 16 goals, his best tally for one club yet, but he found bench warming duty in League One and particuarly the Championship difficult, with 30 of his 75 league appearances coming from the substitutes bench, and moved on to Doncaster Rovers on a free transfer in January 2006.

Since moving to Doncaster Rovers, Price has played in both the right-wing and attacker position, as well as his new found role in central midfield.

Now at 29, Price, who wears the number 23 shirt for Doncaster, has made 36 appearances and scored a total of eight goals for his new club.

One To Watch:

The Brentford player you should be advised to look out for is 25-year old former Torquay United and Swindon Town striker Jo Kuffour.

Leroy Rosenior brough Jo with him from Torquay when Rosenior, who's son plays for Fulham, was appointed manager of Brentford in the summer, but has since left his post after a poor run of form.

The Brentford striker, who wears the number 10 shirt, was originally on the books at Arsenal and got his break in football after a loan spell at Swindon Town in the 2001/02 season.

When at Swindon, Kuffour scored two goals in 13 games and signed for Torquay on a free-transfer in the summer of 2002.

During his tour year spell at Torquay, Kuffour managed 33 league and cup goals in 160 appearances, with his best season coming in 2003/04 when he scored 10 league goals.

He signed for Brentford in the summer and since has managed seven goals in 25 games and is easily The Bee's leading scorer in the 2006/07 season.

Team News:

Again, Ronnie Moore has a number of injury worries ahead of Saturday's game. Jason McAteer, Steve Jennings, Steve Davies and Carl Tremarco will all once again miss out through-injury, whilst the extent of Gareth Taylor's injury is not yet known.

However, one piece of good news for
Moore is that Danny Harrison is set to return from suspension after a three-match ban whilst Robbie Stockdale and Calvin Zola both came through Tuesday's draw at Scunthorpe unscathed.

Jones' Prediction:
Brentford 0-3 Tranmere
