Chasetown manager Charlie Blakemore has high hopes for his central defender, Chris Slater, who is currently on trial at League One side Tranmere.

"He really is class and I think he can go even higher than League One because he just oozes class. He held his own against Oldham and we've got high hopes for him. If he got a contract there (Tranmere), it would be ideal for him."

Slater is a central defender who is equally at home on the right side of defence, a position Tranmere need to permanently fill.

The 22-year old is on a 2 week trial with Rovers from Chasetown and he shot to fame in the F.A. Cup against Oldham Athletic (League One) even though his side lost 4-1 in the replay.

Whilst also having trials at Walsall, Slater has been scouted by high profile clubs such as Blackburn Rovers, Crewe and Wrexham.
