In a fiery West Yorkshire derby that saw seven players yellow carded Avenue opened the scoring through Jason Maxwell in the 36th minute. Town equalised six minutes later with a deflected shot from Christian Annan.
Bradford retook the lead in the 57th minute thanks to Maxwell’s second goal of the game. Their lead was again short lived when Michael Midwood converted a penalty kick awarded for a foul by O’Brien on the hour mark Lambert.
Bradford’s winning goal arrived from an unlikely source with five minutes left on the clock as James’ corner kick eluded the mass of players in the penalty area to find its way into the corner of the net.
Promotion chasing Vauxhall Motors found it tough going against bottom side Congleton until taking the lead against the run of play in the 40th minute when Kevin Lynch converted a controversial spot kick. A second goal, again netted on the break, in the 58th minute from leading scorer Nicky Young sealed an undeserved win for the Motormen.
Ashton Utd’s promotion campaign suffered a set back when they were unable to break down a stubborn Witton Albion side at Hurst Cross despite enjoying the majority of the play.
Elsewhere, Belper town well and truly nailed Eastwood town at Christchurch Meadow. Goals from Mays, Gummer, Cunningham and Morgan helped the home side to a crushing victory. In the meantime Nick Tilly scored the only goal of the game to secure a win for Matlock at Lincoln Utd.
Radcliffe Borough enjoyed a comprehensive victory over in form Harrogate. Radcliffe took the lead after seven minutes when Dempsey crossed from a short corner and Simon Kelly powered a shot past Chris Hill.
Borough doubled their lead on the stroke of half time when Eamon Kelly found the net from twenty-five yards. Neil Hardy completed the scoring for Radcliffe heading home at the far post with an hour of the game gone.
Gretna and Farsley shared the points and six goals in a thrilling match in Scotland. Matty Lea netted his first goal for Gretna after only three minutes before Celtic replied with three quick goals of their own through Whellans, Blackstone and Hepworth.
Gretna hit back in the second half as Lea notched his second goal of the game and Phil Coxall netted their equaliser with 25 minutes to go.
In the Cumbrian derby match against Workington, Kendal outfought a disappointing Reds side as strikes from Mark Fahey and Nick Rogan helped them to register a vital win in their fight to avoid relegation.
Meanwhile Trafford were enjoying their fourth consecutive win, with Winsford this weeks victims. Jo Murray shot the home side ahead after only five minutes and although Winsford equalised through a Southwood og the home side proved to be too strong for the visitors as Wilkinson and Thomas gave them a two goal winning margin.
