Parry remaining upbeat

By PA
Sunday, 7th February 2010
Parry remaining upbeat.

Tranmere boss Les Parry was left frustrated by his side's performance in their 1-0 home defeat to relegation rivals Oldham. Pawel Abbott was the hero with the only goal just before half-time, while Latics goalkeeper Dean Brill produced two fine saves late on to deny substitute Marvin Sordell. Yet Parry refused to be too downbeat as he switched his focus to the upcoming trips to Gillingham and Southend. He said: "I had an inkling we were going to struggle to get something. It turned out to be a difficult afternoon for us. It was a rather flat performance and deservedly we were beaten. "We should have scored near the end but we should have created more chances than we did. "Oldham came here to kill the game and made a good job of it. It is no good me shouting at the lads. My job is to lift them for two away games next week. "It would have been nice to have got something but it wasn't to be and we have just got to keep on plodding away."
